personas. Se aplicó una encuesta de
conocimientos, aptitudes y prácticas. Los
datos se procesaron mediante frecuencia
absoluta y media porcentual y la prueba de
chi-cuadrado. En cuanto a los resultados las
edades entre 41-50 años (27,8%) y entre 51-
60 años (21,8%), el sexo femenino con
66,0%, el nivel cultural bachillerato y la
educación básica (33,9 y 23,0 %) fueron los
más sobresalientes. El 77,5% ha padeció la
enfermedad. Existió un alto nivel de
conocimiento sobre la Covid-19 en el 45,7
%. el 70% considera que ha existido un
control adecuado de la pandemia, el 60,9%
tiene practicas adecuadas en cuanto a las
medidas de bioseguridad. Al determinar la
percepción de riesgo el 38,7% resulto no
tener percepción de riesgo mientras que el
29,6% presentaron una sobrestimación del
riesgo. Los resultados demuestran la
necesidad de estrategias de educación en la
población estudiada.

Summary
One of the problems facing the world in the
fight against the COVID-19 pandemic. In
order to assess the perception of risk
associated with the knowledge, attitudes and
practices of the population of the Bellavista
community in the Portoviejo canton in
Manabí, an observational, descriptive and
cross-sectional study was developed. The
sample was constituted by 330 people. A
survey of knowledge, skills and practices
was applied. Data were processed using
absolute and mean percentage frequencies
and the chi-square test. Regarding the
results, the ages between 41-50 years
(27.8%) and between 51-60 years (21.8%),
the female sex with 66.0%, the high school
cultural level and basic education (33 .9 and
23.0 %) were the most outstanding. 77.5%
have suffered from the disease. There was a
high level of knowledge about Covid-19 in
45.7%. 70% consider that there has been
adequate control of the pandemic, 60.9%
have adequate practices in terms of
biosecurity measures. When determining the
perception of risk, 38.7% turned out not to
have a perception of risk while 29.6%
presented an overestimation of risk. The
results demonstrate the need for educational
strategies in the population studied.
