Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the study habits and strategies with the most positive impact n the learning of fifth, sixth and seventh grad students at the Esmeraldas Fiscal School. A descriptive, cross-sectional and observational research was carried out on 67 students, with a mixed quantitative-qualitative approach. The sample was selected from the morning section of the institution, excluding other educational levels. A survey was applied as an instrument and the statistical analysis was performed in Excel. The results showed that 33% of the students have difficulty concentrating, this being the main challenge. 42% dedicate between 1-3 hours per week to studying. And 99% of the students affirmed receiving support from their parents in their educational process. Among the conclusions, the importance of developing effective study strategies stands out, such as taking notes, underlining main ideas, preparing summaries and conceptual maps to improve understanding and retention of information. Also, dedicating time after classes to study, having an organizes desk and receiving peer support are key to academic success. The findings highlight the need to reinforce study habits and provide effective learning tools from an early age, with the guidance of teachers and the support of the family, to lay solid foundations for the academic performance of students.
