The present article aimed to review and describe the evolution of e-commerce in Latin America since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic. To accomplish this, the article employed a systematic review methodology of the existing literature on the main topic, using the PRISMA method and considering relevant inclusion and exclusion criteria for the research. In this way, a total of 557 records were identified through the search in the world's leading scientific databases, such as Scopus and Web of Science; of which, finally, 12 articles were selected for review. This allowed for the identification of various changes, benefits, and challenges brought about by the COVID-19 pandemic to e-commerce in the countries of the region, with Mexico, Brazil, Ecuador, Peru, and Colombia being most affected in different ways and levels, both positively and negatively. Moreover, the sectors with the highest demand shifted to basic needs such as personal care and food, whereas previously, complementary sectors like fashion and technology held that position. Finally, topics related to taking emphasis in the present and upcoming years were described, including perceived trust, connectivity and technology gaps, consumer habits and behavior, digital marketing, improvement in technology education, among others; all with the aim of adapting to the accelerated and ongoing development of e-commerce in Latin America.
